A note from her teacher, Ms. Sun: There are some chances in our lives that pass by as fleeting moments, and if we are not vigilant, determined, and unwavering, they disappear like dreams. Danna Gonzalez, a 7th grader at Sussman Middle School, is a student who took full advantage of a moment in her life and found success through her drive, ambition, and outstanding persona. Sussman Middle School is delighted to announce Danna’s acceptance into the Cal State Long Beach Engineering Girls Internship. Danna seemed, on paper, similar to other applicants- stellar grades, school involvement, and impressive standardized test scores, but her wonderful personality, charming charisma, and mature professionalism gave her the edge she needed to set her apart. Cal State Long Beach selected a mere 12 students for this prestigious program and acknowledged that Danna’s demeanor and genuine interview responses along with her thoughtfully written essay set her apart from other candidates. Sussman’s pride in Danna’s acceptance and elation of her entry into this impressive internship cannot be more immense. Congratulations to Danna Gonzalez!
These are some of the “fingerprint portraits” created by Sussman Middle School students. Each student’s fingerprint was enlarged and students used tracing paper and followed the fingerprint lines to wrote all about themselves. Then, the tracing fingerprint photo was removed so only the words remained. Great job, artists!

I’m Anita Arora, your new Vice Principal! This is my 9th year in education. I started as a high school English teacher (grades 9-12) and AVID teacher (grades 9-11) in Chino while coaching tennis and swim. During my teaching tenure, I became part of the WASC Leadership team, helped coordinate AVID, and became the International Baccalaureate (IB) coordinator, while playing the role of Administrative Designee as needed. For the past three years I have been the Assistant Principal at Claremont High School and now I am very proud and excited to join the Sussman Family!
The past few years have brought a lot of fun and excitement in my life. I recently got married to my husband, Reza, and re-located to Santa Monica. I also just completed my doctorate from USC this past May, which was where I completed my MA and teaching credential (both Multiple and Single subject) as well. My undergrad years were spent as a BRUIN! at the University of Los Angeles, California. I am extremely passionate about education and as you can see with my years in school as a student, I strongly believe in always being a life-long learner. I believe that all students can and will learn and it is our job to help them reach their greatest potential. More than anything, I am here to be a partner and support all of you in any way I possibly can as we embark on this journey into Common Core, twenty-first century learning while developing strong students of character who are ready to face the competitive global society equipped with the skills necessary for success.
I hope to get to know each and every one of you in the first few weeks of school so please feel free to come by and say hi!
Looking forward to an exciting and eventful school year!
Anita Arora, Ed.D.
