Welcome to Water Polo!
The object of the game is to maneuver a ball into net-enclosed goals at opposite ends of the pool. The game resembles soccer in the water, however each team consists of six field players and one goalie. Only one hand may be used to advance the ball.
Water Polo was originally known as water rugby and in the late 19th century, the "American style" was considered one of the roughest games played.
Try-outs (including 8th graders) occur in June. Enrollment and participation in a summer league is mandatory (in order to condition and learn) to play during fall season. Due to the nature of the sport, I expect to teach the game and certain skills through out the summer. Tryouts will consist of determining competence in: swimming, egg-beatering (being able to maintain a vertical position in deep water), and passing the ball. Please contact me for any questions.
