Reading, Analysis, and Class Discussion: The Catcher in the Rye

  1. This is an on-going assignment that all 11P students are responsible for completing.  Students must read Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye and make sure they understand the questions covered in the study guide.   Successful students read daily, devoting homework and weekend work to their reading and thinking.  Budget your time so you can read the book twice before the final.

  2. Expect quizzes once or twice a week. Count on daily discussion grades.

  3. Study guide answers do not need to be written our or turned in.  As indicated above, make sure you know the answers.  Come prepared to ask questions

  4. Moreover, a significant  portion of the final will be based on The Catcher in the Rye.  Finals count for 15 to 20 % of your semester grade.

  5. ABSENT?  Always plan on moving forward 2 chapters for every day of absence and review the questions on the study guide.
