The following recruitment information is important for you to know when you're applying for a position with Downey Unified School District Convictions for violations of law must be fully disclosed. Failure to report convictions may result in dismissal. Changes of name, address, or telephone number must be communicated to the Classified Personnel Office immediately. Veteran's Preference points
may be awarded. If so, they will be granted to applicants for verified
service during the following periods: Seniority Credit will be granted only to promotional applicants of Downey USD in "promotional only," "promotional and open," and "dual certification" recruitments at the rate of .25 points per year of service, not to exceed 5 points. "Open" examination is a competitive examination open to all interested and qualified applicants, not restricted to District employees. "Promotional Only" examinations shall be limited to permanent District employees. "Open and Promotional"
examinations are open to interested and qualified applicants resulting
in an eligibility list with successful promotional candidates ranked first,
regardless of final score.
