Wonder and read, think and achieve!

Hello and welcome to the Price Elementary School web site. As you navigate through the site you will see the wide variety of activities and opportunities our school provides.

Last year, we developed our new school motto, “Wonder and Read, Think and Achieve!” you will find this posted all over campus and hear our students chant it in their classrooms, because they know that when they wonder about something, they can find answers by reading; reading books, magazines, web articles, newspapers- print is all around them. And if they then think about what they have read, that leads to achievement. We know that at Price we have the best students and we are committed to having the best programs and best school.

Last year we developed a specific instructional focus goal, which drives our decisions regarding curriculum and instruction. That goal is At Price Elementary, all students will show measurable growth in their ability to read at grade level and respond to a variety of texts. Teachers are committed to using Guided Reading, Anchor Charts and Reading Response Journals/Activities to ensure students meet this goal.

We encourage parent involvement through volunteering, PTA activities, School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Council (ELAC), attending family events, and helping students at home. This is a critical stage in a child’s education. It is a time to foster independence and responsibility in children as they build their academic foundation.

Our aim is to provide an environment where children feel welcome, safe, and they expect to be a successful student. We have developed programs to address the needs of all types of learners, from intervention programs to extended day homework help and challenge opportunities. We are very excited about the future of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) programs developing at Price and across Downey Unified.

We are doing our part to make our district vision- All students graduate with a 21st Century education that ensures they are college and career ready, globally competitive, and citizens of strong character- a reality for our students.

Please take some time to explore our site and get to know what our Panther Pride is all about!
