Mrs. Ortiz is a Downey High alumni who is both a public and high school Librarian. She has a Master’s in Library Science from San Jose State and a credential in Art from Cal State Dominguez Hills. When she is not at work, on her spare time she likes to skydive, eat and travel.
Monday – Thursday: 7 AM to 4 PM
Friday: 7 AM to 3 PM
Mrs. Ortiz will gladly help any of your computer and research needs five days a week. The library is open before, during, and after school.
The library has a collection of 30,000 books aligned to the DHS Curriculum. The library also has an extensive fiction collection that includes books on “Grade Level Reading Lists” and popular titles to encourage additional reading.
The school library is always willing to accept donations from any student, parent, staff, and community member. The library will accept funds, books or furniture. If you have any questions please call ext. 5546 or email the school librarian, Mrs. Ortiz at email@example.com
Checking out Books (Circulation)
- Any student can check-out a book with a DHS student I.D.
- Students can check-out up to 4 books for three weeks.
- Students are responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged books
- 40 computers as well as a laser printer available for student use.
- A donation of $0.10 to print in the lab.
Teachers and students may book the lab any time, by emailing Mrs. Ortiz, firstname.lastname@example.org
The lab also includes the “Eureka” program which provides information on careers and colleges, career pathways, and skills assessments, financial aid and planning guides.
