Mr. Shubin is a Downey Native…

Mr. Shubin attended East Middle School (now Doty Middle School) as a student in the late 1970’s and still enjoys calling Downey home.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University Long Beach, and his Master of Education from Azusa Pacific University.  He has served in the Downey Unified School District as an instructional assistant for two years, as a middle school teacher for 8 years, and as a middle school vice principal for 5 years prior to becoming the principal of Doty Middle School in 2003.  He takes great pride in Doty Middle School’s tradition of excellence academically and the safe and orderly learning environment Doty affords its students and their families.

Vice Principal, Mrs. Kathy Nicassio – knicassio@dusd.net

Mrs. Nicassio

Mrs. Nicassio is a southern California native who went to Mayfield Jr. Middle School and graduated from Mayfield Sr. School. From there she earned a bachelors from UC Riverside, a teaching credential from CSULA, and a masters degree from Concordia University. She has worked at Gallatin Elementary school, Griffiths, and Sussman Middle School. Mrs. Nicassio’s favorite part about this job is she loves working with the dedicated teachers who work so hard to nurture and educate the hearts and minds of our students.  Equally important to her is getting to know the wonderful students here at Doty and seeing them engaged in their learning and mature and grow into citizens of character.

Dean of Students, Ms. Nicole Raridon – nraridon@dusd.net

Ms. Raridon

Ms. Raridon is from Southern California and attended Talbert Middle School in Huntington Beach. After graduating high school she went to the University of Hawaii and earned a degree in Special Education, Bachelors in Education, Masters in Teaching, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (which is even better than a masters). Before becoming a Dean, she was the Autism and Behavior Analyst for DUSD.  Ms. Rariodon says the best part of her job is when she gets to reward students with recognition when they do something awesome!  She’s excited to be apart of the Doty team and we are lucky to have her.
