CDS – COMMUNITY DAY SCHOOL
The Downey Community Day School was board approved in December 2016 and is located on the Downey Adult School / Columbus High School campus. The DCDS program is designed to meet the unique needs of students in grades 7–10 who require an intensive Positive Behavioral Support Program. DCDS students may or may not have a 504 Plan or Individualized Education Program (IEP). Students are accepted into the DCDS through a referral process that involves a staffing and a district-level PBIS, 504 Plan or IEP team meeting with the referring school, student and parent/guardian, DCDS, and district level administrator, including Student Services or Special Education Program Administrator. There is a limit of a total of 20 students, per classroom, for this program.
